A mixer (special industrial one) with a strong motor to mix paper, a press, sponges and large bowls, frames with canvas to make the paper, clothes, clothesline and
pins.
The project leaders want to make the children aware of the recycling possibilities as well as starting to be an entrepreneur with the products that they make
themselves.
Penholders, diaries, writing pads and jewelry boxes are made with the recycled paper that can be sold.
The lessons are thoroughly enjoyed by the children and the school where these lessons are being taught hopes that the children have fun in recycling as well as becoming aware of the amounts of garbage Brazil produces every day.
In the southern part of
Brazil lies the city of Florianopolis. In the poor suburbs of the
city the ASAS foundation started organising courses for children and
young adults to keep them away from crime and drugs. These courses
help them create chances for a better future and the possibility to
start their own business.
There is a paper recycling project that has
been successful before that will start again. The course will be
given by a professional who will, together with children who have
followed the course before, will instruct the participants in
recycling paper and making new paper and cards. Course members will
also learn how to run and start their own business and basic sales
techniques. The intention is to see to it that old and new course
members join forces in forming a cooperation and thus being able to
earn their own money to support themselves and their families in the
future. The project requires a funding of approx. € 6000 of which
the biggest part will be spent on an industrial mixer, hydraulic
press, paper cutter etc. expenses necessary to be made to start the
course. A smaller part of the funding will be spent on the
professional that will be hired to give the course. Each course will
accommodate 20 children/youths. By participating in the course they
will have a chance to change their future and possibly fulfil hopes
and dreams they all might have.
