Assistance for foster families in Surinam, 1100 Euro
The aim of Stg. Prasoro
– or Foster Families Central Surinam - is to place orphans and
children who cannot live with their own family due to problems at
home, with foster families. The charity also manages the residential
complex for "Children in Need ".
The complex consists of eight small homes,
which each house about four children and a foster mother. The
children are aged between 4 and 16 years. The foster mothers receive
a payment from Prasoro. The government gives a minimal subsidy to
the residential complex; the families depend mainly on sponsors and
proceeds of fundraising activities which they organise, such as
“tea parties”.
Naturally, there is hardly any money available for the maintenance
of the homes. Moments of Joy has been asked to finance the painting
of one home. In addition, an amount of 200 Euro is needed to
transport a large number of cuddly animals and other toys, collected
in the Netherlands, to the complex.
This brings the total amount requested to 1100 Euro.
