Moments of Joy is a foundation that aims at creating just that: joyful moments for people that live in difficult
circumstances. Moments of joy don't have to be earned, they are presents: they suddenly fall out of the sky. With these moments the foundation hopes to improve the situation of the beneficiaries. By offering them happiness, relaxation, hope or comfort. Music, dance, theatre, sports but also the support of micro-business or the paying for a festive gathering;
Moments of Joy focuses on projects that are too small, unknown or not "necessary" enough to attract the attention of larger charities. Sportmaterials are of course not necessary for the physical survival of street children in Bulawayo, but Moments of Joy is convinced that it can be essential for their psychological well being. As a Marimba-set - African musical instrument - is not strictly conditional for the refugee-camps of AIDS-orphans, but might contribute to the process of trauma coping that these camps are aiming for.
Moments of Joy is a relatively small, flexible organization. We communicate mainly via the Internet, and our office is run from the offices of members of the board. Our overheads are low and are largely paid for by special sponsors. All of the money we get from our donors goes directly to our projects, so there is no need to worry about your money being wasted on bureaucracy.
