Building Materials for Schools in Mude, Nepal
Moments of Joy has been working together with the Namaste Foundation in Breda for several years. Various projects have been accomplished together with Namaste such as the installation of bio-gas and a water supply system.
The new project of Namaste in which Moments of Joy would like to help is helping finish the building of two schools. One of the school is in Perkarnas "Shree Chandra Jyoti" and consists of three classrooms for children in the age between three and ten. The school has been renovated but during the renovation one of the side walls collapsed when removing the old clay layers. The wall has been fixed but one hadn't taken the extra cost into account. This wall needs to be plastered as the plaster brings extra strength and safety to the wall.
The second school is in Busting/Ghunsa "Shree Sidda" and consists of five classrooms. This school is nearly finished. At this school the jointing is missing. Once this has been done the walls will also be stronger and safer.
The building materials that are needed, sand and cement, come to this area from Kathmandu. Transportation to this part of the country is very expensive and therefore we are trying to combine the two renovation projects to reduce the cost of transportation.
These two school will make sure that all the children under 11 will receive necessary education.
