PROJECT RUMAH BINA BUDI
What is a Rumah Bina Budi exactly?
A Rumah Bina Budi is a shelter, a home for children that need it for a certain period of time (can be short or a longer stay). For our foundation the priority lies helping children that are not in an ideal situation at home. We do that via the possibility to sponsor a child project. Sometimes however you have to look for other possibilities to help the children. For instance if children are abused at home or, as it happens more frequently in Indonesia, children get abandoned by their parents. It is also a place where children can come that live in dangerous surroundings or extreme poverty, that live to far away from school or children that come to stay here because their parents are absent for a few months because they go to the larger cities to earn some money.
Our Rumah Bina Budi is such a place. We have 12 children in our home at the moment with a permanent "mother" that takes care of the children in the ages of 7 - 15 years old. We have space for 24 children.
The Rumah Bina Budi has been built by our foundation in Kampong Bulak Laut, Pangandaran. When the building was finished we also had to decorate it as we started from scratch. Thanks to different sponsors, amongst those Moments of Joy, we succeded in making our special home. We are very grateful for these contributions.

Moments of Joy has been asked to help out on a project of the Maraih Bintang Foundation. This foundation has been active for a number of years now on West-Java, Indonesia. In the Pangandaran area they have started a school after the Tsunami of 2006. They work closely with the community and two of the boardmembers actually live there. Wishes of the community are therefore easily communicated.
The new plan is to build a childrens home where not only orphans are welcome but where there will be space for children who, for various different reasons, cannot live with their parents. For instance they have only one parent left and that parent has to leave the village to find work/income, abused children or children that have been left on their own by their parents because they cannot take care of them any more.
The goal is to build the house in such a manner that it will feel like a home for the children, no large bedrooms with lots of bunkbeds etc. etc.

The house is being built at the moment but soon they will be needing all sorts of things for the house. For the Kitchen they will need cutlery, plates, glasses etc. and for this they have asked the help of Moments of Joy.
The amount needed is € 525,--
