Children's ward hospital in El Alto, Bolivia
In this recently build hospital in an enormous and very poor suburb of La Paz in Bolivia there are a lot of children that are often hospiltalised for long periods of time to treat them for instance for tuberculosis.
On the walls of the children's ward there were decorations of cartoonfigures but that was all, there were no distracting or amusing materials. All day long the children sat in their beds staring into space.

Moments of Joy was contacted by the Dutch director of the hospital and asked to pay for toys, a television and videoplayer, a palypen, special carpets, wallpaint, bookshelves, a blackboard and a set of (eductional and Disney) video's. Moments of Joy added a monthly perfomance of clowns for one year to the list. The children, staff and parents were very happy to receive these. The playcorner is used full-time, the educational video's and the blackboard help to have at least a bit of "school" and - even more important - the activities help children to leave their state of boredom or apathy.
