  • Moments-of-joy op Facebook
With the permission of Moments of Joy the money that was wired to support the volleyball team for girls has been used to support a Dance group. The volleyball team that was supposed to start could not find sufficient leaders. The Dancegroup is also part of the activities that Beautiful Kidzz Namibia have started near Windhoek. Please read their report below.

REPORT DANCING GROUP REVOLUTIONDARY KATUTURA
2017

Background:

Youth in the district of Katutura don't have an easy life. There is a lot of unemployment, poverty and violence. Many of the adults find their solace in alcohol and have given up hope for a better life. This does not make them good examples for the young children.

Goals:

By offering the children the possiblity to do sports in our Centre, the children are attracted to come and spend time with us. It has proven a succesful way to get in touch with the children, form a relationship with them and help them in their development.
Our staff has tried many different ways to try and stimulate these children. To teach them values in life and to stimulate them to explore and discover their talents.
One of these activities has been a Dancegroup.

The group has chosen their own name "Revolutiondary Katutura" a combination of "revolutionary and legendary"
Revolution stands for change and legendary stands for the fact that they don't want to be forgotten soon and that they are committed to this program.
The group has Nicole Nguuyepa as their leader and has 10 members (amongst them two boys)  and uses dance to communicate with other children from their neighbourhood.

The funds have been used to buy sound equipment, transportation, some snacks and refreshments and some office supplies.
Total cost have been € 900,-- of which the largest part was contributed by Moments of Joy

For full financial report go to the Beautiful Kidzz Namibia website.

Moments of Joy has worked together with the "Beautiful Kidz Namibia" foundation before and now there is a new project that they have asked us to participate in.
The foundation is active in and around the slums of Windhoek. For the boys in those areas they have created a footballteam which has become a great succes. The girls didn't want to stay behind and wanted to create their own sportsteam. For them it became a volleyball team, the Katutura Volleyball Team. A practice field was found just outside of town and every week they go out there and practice. A second team was started so the girls could play against each other. In the beginning it was just a pleasant outing for the girls so they could get away from their neighbourhood. Now it has become more serious, especially now that they know they will be competing against other teams in the greater Windhoek area.
The amount asked will be used to puchase balls, poles (to hold the nets) and nets and a contribution to the petrol needed for the weekly trips from home to the volleyball field and back.
Amount needed: € 700.--
