Flooding due to extreme rainfall in Mozambique has caused a lot of damage in the campital of Maputo. Not only did 100 families loose their homes, the city dump started to move, causing the people that live next to this dump to be buried under the rubble and waste. The school for streetchildren of Centro de Encontro was also damaged.

In the district of Mahotas, where the shool is located, the rainfall caused mudslides which damaged the building. The waterpipes where flushed away by the mud so there is no fresh water. On the streetside the wall was damaged and the watertank fell over causing it to crack. This will have to be replaced.
They will dig a ditch along side the school to help "manage" the water in the future, and repairs to the wall will be made.

Cost for repairs of the waterpipes, watertank, the walls and the digging of the ditch are € 600,--
