Kitchen Appliances for Recently Built Orphanages in Vietnam

Vietnam, € 950,-

The foundation Mai nha starts this December with the construction of the first house in a small poor village for the care of 10 orphans. A second house will be built over the course of 2012.

The foundation mai nha
The foundation has two goals. Firstly, the care of orphans in this region in a safe and loving environment. Secondly, the foundation also wants to ensure that the community around the home can share in the medical and educational facilities especially the underprivileged children of the village.

Mai nha was founded by Dutchman Marc Witlox and his French wife Marie Ponsin. They are our direct contacts (our project finders) for this project. Marc and Marie have spent a lot of time in Vietnam and fell for this beautiful country. So much that they decided to move over there with two children to set up this foundation and accomplish their dream to build an orphanage. They are not only in Vietnam for the duration of the construction of the orphanage, they will continue to live there as long as is needed to complete the project in a responsible manner and until they are assured that the "best practices" are observed daily. The only reason for living in Vietnam is to set up this project. After the orphanage is established and running they will return to their home in France but will return each year for three months and also each summer to oversee and monitor the project.

The orphanage
The children will grow up "en famille". Each home is run by a team led by a "mother superior" who will look after the children until they are independent. The children will attend a local school and will not be eligible for adoption. Scholarships, preventive health care and hygiene for the orphans of the house will also be available for other children of the village. The emphasis will be on the quality of care for these children which Marc and Marie find extremely important: care with love and joy and fun for the orphans but also for the other children of the village. Various festivities will be held throughout the year at the orphanage itself but also for all the children of the village. The design of the house, the number of nurses and the various initiatives that will be taken for the children will be sufficient to achieve all this.
